Gun Metal
- Copper-based alloy mainly composed of Copper (Cu), Tin (Sn), and Zinc (Zn).
- Also known as a type of Bronze alloy.
- Excellent corrosion resistance, especially in water and marine environments.
- Good castability and pressure tightness.
- High strength and durability.
- Good wear resistance and anti-friction properties.
- Excellent machinability.
- Suitable for steam and water applications.
- Good resistance to rust and dezincification.
Typical Chemical Composition (Standard Grade)
- Copper (Cu): 85–88%.
- Tin (Sn): 5–7%.
- Zinc (Zn): 3–5%.
- Lead (Pb): 3–5%.
Mechanical Properties (Approx.)
- Tensile Strength: 250 – 350 MPa.
- Good pressure handling capacity.
- Moderate hardness with excellent sealing properties.
